This Chickering 6’5” grand had been refinished, with new strings, refinished soundboard, plate and cabinet, plate, before action restoration (it has a historic Edwin Brown action). This 1887 rosewood grand was donated by a northern California piano technician to our museum, the Period Piano Center, to be sold on its behalf. Most of the piano was restored prior to donation; however, the action was completely worn out and required extensive work. Just sold in 2012, it received new hammers built by the Ronson Hammer Company especially for historic American pianos.
